History:

Victor Von Doom was raised by gypsies in a small European county called Latveria. He lost both of his parents at a very young age. Swearing revenge, Victor began to increase both his scientific and mystical knowledge ( his mother was a witch who made a pact with the Devil to save her family ) with such determination that he was given a full scholarship to Empire State University. It was at ESU that Victor met Reed Richards and Ben Grimm, and where he started his extra dimensional research ( to build a machine to save his mother’s soul ) . Doom's vanity prevented him from adjusting the schematics to one of his experiments, and the end result was an explosion that scarred Victor for life. Expelled from school, Victor began to travel the world, met Dr Strange’s Master but this one refused to teach him his knowledge sensing that Victor may use it for his own goals. Victor continued his travel until he stumbled upon a village of Tibetan monks who trained him and crafted him a suit of body armor, complete with a metal mask. Victor applied the mask on his face before it was completely cooled down and took the identity of Dr Doom. He soon returned to Latveria, overthrew the government and crowned himself King. Ruling with an iron fist, Doom made Latveria a very  rich and healthy nation and began his plans of world domination.
It is known that, at least once, he succeeded in ruling the world when he enslaved the Purple Man and amplified his powers to control all humanity. Amazingly, Doom built an utopia but he soon grew bored and started himself a rebel opposition movement, returning to Latveria when he was willingly defeated.

Among his quests Dr Doom finally saved his mother’s soul from Mephisto himself with the Help of Dr Strange.

Once an apparently legitimate descendant of the previous king of Latveria overthrew him and became the new monarch. Doom had to ask the Fantastic Four for help and they amazingly agreed, apparently believing that having Doom out of his throne was a worse option. During the conflict, Doom's robots killed the parents of a little boy by accident and Doom adopted him. His original plan was to make him his inheritor. However, when Dr doom was presumed dead , his robots took the kid “Kristoff and imprinted him with Doom's brain patterns, Kristoff decided then that he was the original Doom and tried to exterminate the real one believing him a pretender. Once more, Doom had to fight for his throne.

But The Fantastic Four have also asked for Doom's help in occasions, like when Kitty Pride started to lose corporeity and Reed Richards was unable to stop the process. But Doom did. Also the Fantastic Four were forced to trust him once more when Susan  became pregnant again. Because of her irradiated cells, she had already miscarried once. This time, though, Sue would also die and Reed could not prevent this from happening. Johnny Storm decided then to go to Doom and ask for help. Proving once more that he was smarter than Reed, , Doom helped Sue give birth to a baby girl and, when asked for whatever he wanted in exchange for his help, he simply asked them to name the girl Valeria after his lost love. Thus, Doom became her godfather.

Dr Doom also saved and ruled the alternative earth created after Onslaught , after all the heroes went back to the original earth.

In the future ( 2099 to be precise ) Doom is the only character from the Marvel Universe to have survived the “ Dawn of the heroes”. He stayed alive through his science knowledge. After being brainwashed by his lover, Doom regained the throne of Latveria then invaded the USA and declared himself President of the United States.  

Known Superhuman Powers: 

While in his armor, Dr. Doom can lift (press) approximately 2 tons. He is one of the smartest men in the world and has an almost endless variety of weapons and equipment at his disposal. At the very least, Doom's armor contains a force field and concussion beams -- though more weapons may also be included.  

Dr. Doom also has the ability to switch minds with another person and he possesses a great amount of mystical knowledge as well ( amost similar to dr Strange ).

Without his armor he remains a formidable opponent as he masters different types of martial arts.
